The Digresser.
It has been over a year since my last blog (and also my first blog), so I figured it is about time for me type up a new one. It has also almost been a year since I last saw any of the cast and crew from Around the Bay, but I still think about them often. When you spend all of your weekends with a group of people for one whole month, they tend to grow on you and make a place for themselves in your heart, even if they annoyed you.
And I promise I'm not referring to anyone in particular that was "annoying"--though Connor did annoy many of us in one of the car rides around the bay (oh, a pun!) by kicking the seat over and over--that is, until I offered him a dollar if he would stop. His response to my offer: "You don't even have a purse, so you don't have money." Kids are funny.
But I digress. Wait, did I use that word correctly? I mean to say I am straying away from what I came here to do. I've been typing for quite a while now with nothing interesting to share. I suppose I can copy Connor's formatting...
Q: What are you up to these days?
A: I am working full time at an office. It is exactly how you would imagine it to be, except we don't have to dress professionally every day.
Q: What has happened in your life since you filmed Around the Bay?
A: I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a BA in Sociology. I moved back in with my parents in the Los Angeles area.
Q: What is your favorite memory from Around the Bay?
A: One evening when we were shooting in the tea house, I went back to the main house to get more batteries. When I returned to the back yard, I noticed that they had begun shooting the scene, so I tried my best to stay quiet and out of the camera view while walking back to the tea house. This proved to be very difficult because I had to step quietly on the stepping stones--with leaves and plants all around--in the DARK. I thought to myself, I could use my cell phone as a light, but if I did, the cameras would probably see me. I continued to (quietly) stumble over the stones and tried not to make to much noise, much like an amateur ninja, now that I think about it. When I finally got to the porch of the tea house, I heard Alex call the scene to an end. I remember Sam and Brian smiling at me. "All that trouble for nothing!" Sam laughed.
Q: Have you worked on any other film projects?
A: Sort of. This summer I've been helping out with a documentary, but not with the film aspect. I'm one of the researching interns. It's much less exciting than working on Around the Bay.
Q: How do you feel about being an actor?
A: I wouldn't know because I'm not an actor. I guess I should change this last question to something like, "How do you feel about being a[n] ________?" Actually, I'm not sure what to fill that blank with. Well, how do I feel in general? In general, I feel anxious. I want to see this film. I want to see the finished product. I want other people to see it. I know that others will see the characters/moments in the movie differently than I will because I was there when it was filmed. I want to hear what other people think about it.
Anxious, very anxious.
