Who Am I?
Submitted by Alejandro Adams on Sun, 05/04/2008 - 1:36pm.An affectionate wiki about my "work" includes some remarks I made about internet video several years ago, when my ambitions were more academic than practical.
"The evolution of the spectator's control over his cinematic experience must be taken into account. Web-hosted cinema did not evolve from television or the cinema of the congregated audience; it evolved from the sensibilities of home-format cinema. Like the VCR throughout its history, Web-hosted cinema gives the viewer unprecedented control over his experience, elevating consumption to a sovereign, individualized act--thus the implications of a theory or ethics of spectatorship."

Press Bonanza
Submitted by Alejandro Adams on Mon, 04/28/2008 - 8:13pm.Enthusiastic reviews in Variety and indieWIRE were certainly the pinnacle of the press bonanza which surrounded the premiere of Around the Bay in early March, but there were key sources of support from the hard-to-crack worlds of television and radio, too. I already profusely thanked the CinemaScene guys, but SF360, KMVT and KFJC came through for us as well, assuring that Around the Bay was publicized on airwaves from San Francisco to Santa Cruz.

Vive le Cinema Scene
Submitted by Alejandro Adams on Sun, 02/24/2008 - 1:17pm.With the premiere one week away, I find myself in the middle of a press bonanza--well, relatively speaking. For a movie made at this level, the attention is wildly incommensurate, though I would hesitate to say it's undeserved. I've done two television interviews, have a radio interview scheduled on Monday, and an interview for an online outlet scheduled for mid-week. On top of that, it seems a new review is posted every day, from the I-must-be-dreaming review to the more conventionally glowing review to the astute interpretive essay. But the best experience by far, in terms of both promotional punch and personal gratification, has been my interview on Cinema Scene.

The Digresser.
Submitted by Gernez Macagba on Fri, 11/02/2007 - 7:31pm.It has been over a year since my last blog (and also my first blog), so I figured it is about time for me type up a new one. It has also almost been a year since I last saw any of the cast and crew from Around the Bay, but I still think about them often. When you spend all of your weekends with a group of people for one whole month, they tend to grow on you and make a place for themselves in your heart, even if they annoyed you.

Bloggy Thoughts
Submitted by Katherine Celio on Wed, 10/24/2007 - 2:35pm.I remember I was nervous right before I auditioned for Around the Bay. I hadn't been to very many auditions, and all of it was very new to me. From the looks of the script, it seemed as if they knew what they were doing. I had help from my sister who encouraged me to follow through with the audition. Right before I had to leave we read a few lines together, which helped calm my nerves.
